Raincity Blue blends powerful vocals, sultry saxophone, and feel-good rhythms; they give you music to groove to. Based in Vancouver BC, the five-piece ensemble showcases a high energy performance that integrates influences from funk, soul, brass rock, and R&B.
Members Clare Twiddy, Kaylar Chan, Ryley Kirkpatrick, Chantal Gauthier, and Sheldon D’Eith all come from diverse artistic backgrounds, evident in their original music which offers both dynamics and subtlety. Honest lyrics and alluring melodies tell a story that is sensual, intimate, and empowering.
In 2017 the band recorded their first EP “Tell Me” (Released June 2017). Since the release they performed at TD’s Vancouver International Jazz Festival and have been featured in the Vancouver 24 hr, The Nanaimo News Bulletin, and The Snipe New, and on radio stations such as Roundhouse radio, and CiTR radio.
With the support of Creative BC and the BC Music Fund Raincity Blue recorded their debut album “Stuck on Replay” at Rain City Recorders in August 2017. They released the album to a sold-out audience at the Wise Hall on January 20th 2018.
Early in 2018 the band was chosen in the top 100 of CBC Searchlight 2018 and were the winners in the Hard Rock Casino's Rock the Mic competition. Most recently Raincity Blue showcased at Canadian Music Week in Toronto performing at 120 Diner and The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern. The band looks forward to performing at Seattle Hempfest in August.
